New Manager Brings Passion and Experience to McKenzie Lifestyle Village

Welcome to Geraldine Steve!

McKenzie Lifestyle Village is thrilled to announce the appointment of Steve Wakeman to the role of Village Manager.  Steve arrived on 5 June 2025 and is already settling into his new role.

Steve most recently served as Village Manager for Ryman Healthcare in Christchurch and Invercargill, where he was a finalist for both Ryman Leader of the Year and Ryman Village of the Year, and won the Aged Advisor Award for Best Large Village in the South Island.

Before his work in the Aged Care Industry, Steve had a varied career in Hotel Management, ranging from 5-star city hotels to remote fly-in lodges in Alaska.  Steve is most proud of the 10 years he spent in Golden Bay, where he and his partner developed and managed a boutique lodge at Pohara Beach.

Steve was born in New Hampshire, USA, and travelled extensively in his home country before coming to New Zealand in 2006.  Away from the village, you can expect to find Steve riding his bike, working in the home garden, or exploring the South Island.
